Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the Leave It Clean Chrome extension (“the extension”) and this website, leaveitclean.io, both published by Unitizen LLC (“we”), handle information.

Summary

The extension works entirely on your device. We do not collect, receive, store, sell or share your browsing history, page titles, the rules you create, or any other personal information. The current version makes no network requests and contains no analytics or tracking.

Information the extension accesses on your device

• Browsing history and page titles (history and tabs permissions): each visited address and page title is checked against your rules in memory. Matching entries are deleted from Chrome history. Nothing is recorded or transmitted.
• Recently closed tabs (sessions permission): addresses in Chrome’s “Recently closed” list are checked the same way, and matching entries are removed.
• The current tab’s address, only when you click “Auto-clean this site”.

Information stored on your device

• A random secret key generated at install time.
• Your rules, stored only as keyed hashes (HMAC-SHA-256). For keyword rules, the keyword’s length is also stored. The original website or keyword text is not stored.
• While a tab is open, the addresses in that tab that matched a rule are kept in temporary browser memory so they can be removed from “Recently closed” when the tab closes. This list is discarded when the tab closes and is never written to disk.
• When you add a rule, its random ID and a timestamp are kept until the existing-history cleanup for that rule finishes (about 10 seconds), so the cleanup can resume if the browser closes in between.

This data is kept in the extension’s local storage (not Chrome Sync) and is deleted when you remove the extension or choose “Remove all rules”.

Information we collect

None through the extension. We operate no server for the current version of the extension. If you email us for support, we use your message only to reply.

This website

leaveitclean.io uses no cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. Like most websites, our web server and our network provider, Cloudflare, keep standard access logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and operations; these logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to identify you.

Future paid features

If we introduce paid plans or optional sign-in, we will update this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures before release, and the extension will ask for your consent before any data is sent. Browsing history will never be uploaded.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome extension APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information is used only to provide the extension’s single purpose — deleting history entries that match your rules — and is not transferred, sold, or used for advertising, credit-worthiness, or any other purpose.

Children

The extension is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

We will post any changes on this page and update the date above.
